Paul is the Executive Director & Founding Member of the Karen Environmental and Social Action Network (KESAN), and has been working on social and environmental issues in Burma’s conflict areas for over two decades.

An ethnic Karen, Paul is the leading spokesperson for KESAN and several networks of border-based organisations including Karen Rivers Watch (KRW) and Burma Environmental Working Group (BEWG). Paul has represented indigenous ethnic Karen people across the globe, including at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Hawai’i in 2016.

Under Paul’s leadership, KESAN’s activities promote a holistic approach to sustainable livelihoods development based on the principles of ground-level democratization and ‘Free, Prior and Informed Consent’.

He acts as a Senior Communications Manager of KWCI.
